Item Description:Advertised in the Massachusetts gazette and Boston weekly news-letter, Oct. 3, 1771, supplement. - Advertisements for books, stationery, and printing and binding work, p. [40]. - Drake, M. Almanacs, 3210. - English Short Title Catalog, W14316. - Evans, 12281. - Reproduction of original from British Library. - The author, whose preface is signed "Isaac Bickerstaff," was Benjamin West. Cf. Nichols, C.L. "Notes on the almanacs of Massachusetts." Proceedings of the American Antiquarian Society, n.s. v. 22 (1912): 34-35, and the Dictionary of American biography. The eclipse predictions are identical, and calendar page notes correspond closely, with those in West's The New-England almanack, or Lady's and gentleman's diary, for 1772 (Providence). The calendar page calculations for the moon's place, rising, and setting, are also identical, though the others vary, being for Boston rather than Providence
