MPG.eBooks is a search service to electronic books accessible from the IP-range of the Max Planck Society. MPG.eBooks is built on the open source software project VuFind.
Enter in as many search terms as you like. The terms will be combined automatically with the operator 'AND'. As a result you will only receive records with all search terms included. Searching is not case sensitive.
By clicking on the magnifying glass without entering any search terms at all you will receive all records of MPG.eBooks as a result.
You can choose between the following searches:
Search operators allow terms to be combined with logic operators. The following operators are allowed: AND, OR, NOT
Note: search operators must be ALL CAPS
The AND operator is the default conjunction operator. This means that if there is no Boolean operator between two terms, the AND operator is used. The AND operator matches records where both terms exist anywhere in the field of a record.
Example: search for records that contain "arbitration" and "Stevens"
Query:
arbitration Stevens
or
arbitration AND Stevens
The OR operator links two terms and finds a matching record if either of the terms exist in a record.
Example: search for documents that contain either "arbitration" or "Stevens"
Eingabe:
arbitration OR stevens/pre>
The NOT operator excludes records that contain the term after NOT.
Example: To search for documents that contain "arbitration", but not "Stevens"
Query:
arbitration NOT Stevens
Note: The NOT operator cannot be used with just one term. For example, the following search will return no results:
NOT arbitration
If you look for a multi word term or phrase, put the complete term in quotation marks.
Example:
"international arbitration"
To perform a multiple character, 0 or more, wildcard search use the * symbol.
Example:
psycholog*
Results: Psychology, psychological, psychologism etc.
To perform a single character wildcard search use the ? symbol.
Example:
Te?t
Results: Test, text
You can use the wildcard searches in the beginning, the middle or the end of a term. But don't use more than one wildcard in a single word.
To apply more value to a term, you can use the ^ character, followed by a numeric factor (e.g. 5).
Example:
mediation arbitration^5
Result: more value is given to the term 'arbitration'.
By using the facets (filters) on the right bar of the result list you can refine your search results. Please be aware, that a maximum of 100 items is displayed per facet. Accordingly it might be possible, that not every record from the result list is represented in a facet item.
