Description
Summary:The aim of this overview of systematic reviews answers to whether the coordinating interventions contribute to better quality of life for cancer patients. We included six systematic reviews of moderate to high quality. They assessed the effects of various forms of coordinating actions for patients who are or have been treated for cancer. Our overview showed:1. Coordinating interventions in the municipalities may increase the quality of life for cancer patients.2. There was no convincing evidence that coordination (continuity of care) improved function, psychological or physical status.3. It is not evident that coordination for patients with cancer increases satisfaction with the care or the health care services.4. The same quantity of relapse is possibly detected when cancer patients are followed up in the community by their doctor and nurse rather than specialists.5. There is no clear evidence that coordinating interventions for cancer patients improves symptoms.6. It is not known whether coordinating interventions make cancer patients more active participating in decisions about their own treatment. The quality of the evidence was low to very low
