|a A previous CADTH Rapid Response report of 2012 assessed removable rigid dressing in comparison to rigid dressing for management of leg amputations. It included one randomized controlled trial (RCT) with 27 patients and reported no statistically significant difference between the two modalities with respect to wound healing or time duration from amputation to prosthetic fitting. The purpose of this review is to evaluate the more recent evidence regarding the clinical effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of rigid dressings compared with standard dressings for management of patients with lower extremity amputation
