Es wurden nicht nur reine Begriffsübersetzungen, sondern so oft wie möglich differenzierte Darstellungen des unterschiedlichen Entwicklungsstandes planerischer, juristischer und technischer Begriffsebenen in den Definitionen (Hinweise auf Ober-und Unterbegriffe) erarbeitet. Bei manchen Begriffen, die in der einen oder anderen Sprache so (noch) nicht gedacht werden, helfen Übersetzungsvorschläge weiter. Definitionen in allen Sprachen geben wertvolle Verständnishilfen und Formulierungsalternativen für die tägliche Arbeit.

|a This unique 'quinqualingual' dictionary covers terms which concern the planning, design and protection of the environment. The languages are German, British and American English, French, and Spanish, together with many Latin-American equivalents. It is intended for the use of landscape architects, urban planners, nature conservationists and environmentalists, as well as planning practices, research and educational institutes and contains a total of approximately 10,000 termini. The terms have not simply been translated. As often as possible various interpretations at the planning, legal or technical level were also included in the definitions, with cross references to generic and specific terms, thus adding to the precise meaning and allowing clarification of the scope of each term. In the case of those terms which are not used, or as yet unknown, in one or another of the languages, helpful suggestions have been made for their translation.
