| Summary: | Following the theme of the previous book "Studies of Information Users", published in 2014, this work brings together texts by specialists from different areas of knowledge that present the main characteristics and information about people with different profiles. However, unlike the previous work, which brought information about the most recurrent groups of users in the literature, this book opted for a more inclusive and plural approach, including chapters on groups little addressed in works on the subject, such as babies, disabled , individuals with high abilities, people from the LGBTQIA+ group, users of archives and museums. The aim is to provide basic but fundamental information so that information professionals can understand the main characteristics and needs of these groups, eliminating preconceptions and stigmas that may compromise the work of librarians, archivists and museologists in assisting these individuals. The inappropriate or mistaken attitude of these professionals, often due to lack of knowledge about the specificities of these individuals, can unintentionally result in negative experiences for the user who, in turn, will have a distorted image of the role of professionals and Information Units, pushing him away or making it difficult to use the information units. In addition, these groups are often invisible to the work of professionals who are in charge of information units, remaining in the category of potential users or even non-users, since they themselves often do not recognize themselves as such and because they often the information units are not properly prepared to serve them. Seguindo a temática do livro anterior "Estudos de Usuários da Informação", publicado em 2014, a presente obra reúne textos de especialistas de diferentes áreas do conhecimento que apresentam as principais características e informações sobre pessoas com perfis variados. Entretanto, diferentemente da obra anterior, que trazia informações sobre grupos de usuários mais recorrentes na literatura, neste livro optou-se por uma abordagem mais inclusiva e plural, incluindo capítulos sobre grupos pouco abordados em obras sobre o tema, tais como bebês, defi cientes, indivíduos com altas habilidades, pessoas do grupo LGBTQIA+, usuários de arquivos e de museus. O intuito é proporcionar informações básicas, porém fundamentais para que os profi ssionais da informação possam compreender as principais características e necessidades destes grupos, dirimindo pré-conceitos e estigmas que possam comprometer o trabalho de bibliotecários, arquivistas e museólogos no atendimento destes indivíduos. A postura inadequada ou equivocada destes profissionais, muitas vezes devido ao desconhecimento acerca das especificidades destes indivíduos pode, involuntariamente, resultar em experiências negativas ao usuário que, por sua vez, ficará com uma imagem distorcida do papel dos profi ssionais e das Unidades de Informação, afastando-o ou dificultando o uso das unidades de informação. Além disto, estes grupos muitas vezes são invisíveis ao trabalho dos profi ssionais que estão à frente de unidades de informação, permanecendo na categoria de usuários potenciais ou mesmo de não usuários, visto que eles próprios muitas vezes não se reconhecem como tal e porque muitas vezes as unidades de informação não estão devidamente preparadas para atendê-los. |
