520 |a This Dartmouth Atlas Project report updates and extends previous reports on geographic variation in health care quality and health outcomes, this time with a focus on access to and use of primary care. Primary care--the services delivered by family practice physicians, general internists and pediatricians--forms the foundation of well-functioning, high-performing health care delivery systems. In the U.S., access to primary care varies widely across Dartmouth Atlas HRRs and HSAs, as does the quality of care and health outcomes. We present information on several indicators of quality and patient outcomes with an eye towards the role that primary care plays in each
