|a This Dartmouth Atlas Project report updates and extends previous reports on geographic variation in health care quality and health outcomes, this time with a focus on access to and use of primary care. Primary care--the services delivered by family practice physicians, general internists and pediatricians--forms the foundation of well-functioning, high-performing health care delivery systems. In the U.S., access to primary care varies widely across Dartmouth Atlas HRRs and HSAs, as does the quality of care and health outcomes.
