Seit der Nachkriegszeit haben sich hier besonders weitreichende Muster der »Konfliktpartnerschaft« zwischen Arbeit und Kapital herausgebildet. Dieser Band bietet erstmals eine zusammenfassende sozialhistorische Darstellung der betrieblichen Mitbestimmung in der westdeutschen Automobilindustrie in der zweiten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts. Der Wandel der Mitbestimmungspraxis der Betriebsräte von der Schutz- und Verteilungs- zur Beschäftigungs- und Gestaltungspolitik wird dabei im Kontext unterschiedlicher betrieblicher Sozialordnungen analysiert.
