| Summary: | The Creighton Lecture series at the University of London was established by the historian and social activist Louise Hume Creighton (1856-1930) to commemorate her husband, historian and Church of England bishop Mandell Creighton (1843-1901). The first lecture was delivered on 4 October 1907 and has since been followed by annual events at the University. The Creighton Century, 1907-2007 offers a selection of ten lectures from the first 100 years of the series. Each of the chosen lectures, delivered between 1913 and 2004, is introduced and set in context by a historian who was then teaching at the University of London. The collection is introduced by Robert Evans' 2007 centenary lecture, 'The Creighton century: British historians and Europe, 1907-2007'.
