Summary: | As the most common type of joint disease in older adults, osteoarthritis (OA) is a progressive illness characterized by cartilage breakdown, tendon and ligament deterioration, and synovial inflammation causing chronic pain and functional impairment. Without a cure, the goal of OA management is to control pain and improve function using a combination of self-management techniques (e.g., physical exercise and weight management), medications, and orthopedic surgery |
