Description
Summary:To support the development of policies related to the use of general anesthesia (GA) and deep sedation in Canadian pediatric patients, this report will review the comparative clinical effectiveness and safety of dental treatment under deep sedation or GA compared with lower levels of sedation (i.e., moderate or minimal sedation). Evidence-based guidelines regarding the use of GA or deep sedation will also be reviewed and appraised to identify the dental treatments where the use of GA or deep sedation is appropriate in pediatric patients and the volume of procedures that can be performed under a single deep sedation or GA.
