| Summary: | This booklet was written in collaboration with specialists from a number of transplant centres worldwide and aims to ensure that transplantation patients receive the best possible immunosuppressive prophylaxis with ciclosporin (SandimmunR)against graft rejection. The authors present a concise survey of basic theories of adequate ciclosporin treatment and procedures for achieving optimal use. In text and illustrations the booklet covers both immediate post-operative, maintenance and chronic renal dysfunction therapy, considered according to the type of organ transplantation undertaken. The current protocols employed in Munich and Basle are given in detail and variations in use at other centres are noted. Problems and points requiring special attention are also discussed.
