The french tongue made easy to learners or, a compleat system of directions, to illustrate the greatest difficulties of the French language, and to explain all the Niceties thereof. Containing in particular, I. A Dissertation on the French Pronunciation; the proper Use of Accents; an Explanation of the three different Sorts of Diphthongs and Triphthongs, and of the different Manner of pronouncing them in Poetry. II. A new Method proposed, whereby Learners may pronounce as correctly as Natives of France, by comparing similar Sounds in the English Language; and where such are wanting, by directing the proper Disposition of the Organs to form the Pronunciation. III. Rules for the Contraction of Syllables in samiliar Conversation, and for uttering them elegantly in Poetry &c. wherein all the quiescent Letters are denoted by particular Characters. IV. New and peculiar Directions relating to the Conjugations, and the proper Use of the several Tenses of Verbs; the Declension of Nouns; and the various Use of Articles and Pronouns, &c. All divided into Sections number'd in the Margin, and referred to by a copious Index, so that every Head and Case may be immediately sound and resolved. The Whole being an Abstract of an intirely New Plan of teaching the French Language, which hath met with a general Approbation in written Lectures upwards of fifteen Years, and by which Learners have been successfully taught.
