Medway, in Lisbon river, July 4, o.s. Dear Sam, after we receiv'd our orders, by an express, we weigh'd and went to sea (in company with the Monmouth) which was on the 25th of April last; we met with nothing till the 30th, when we saw a sail just out of the water, we stood for her, and in seven hours came up with her, and took her; she prov'd a Spanish privateer of eighteen carriage and seven swivel guns, and had 126 men on board
