The absolute necessity of unfeigned repentance and humiliation in order to secure the divine favour and protection, and to prevent a sinful Nation from Ruin and Destruction. Being the substance of two discourses preached at the Sunday-Morning lecture in the parish church of St. Giles, Cripplegate; And afterwards in Christ-Church, Newgate-Street, On February the 13th, 1761. The Day appointed by Proclamation for a general Fast and Humiliation before Almighty God, to be observed in the most devout and solemn Manner, by offering up our Supplications to the Divine Majesty: For obtaining Pardon of our Sins, and for averting those heavy Judgments which our manifold Provocations have most justly deserved, and imploring God's Blessing and Assistance on the Arms of his Majesty, and for restoring and perpetuating Peace and Prosperity to himself, and to his Kingdoms.
